How to Style an Oversized Coat This Autumn

01 — Proportion is everything

The key to an oversized coat is balance. If the coat is wide through the shoulders and long through the body, wear something fitted underneath — a slim knit, a straight-leg trouser, or a sleek midi dress. Let the coat do the work. Avoid pairing with wide-leg trousers unless you are working with a cropped hem, as the overall silhouette can lose its shape.

02 — Lean into a tonal palette

Autumn dressing is at its most powerful when the palette is cohesive. Camel on cream, charcoal on black, chocolate with rust — tonal dressing allows the coat's cut and texture to speak for itself.
